Welcome to the Back 40 Flying Club! We are glad you stopped by. Simply put, we love to fly and have been doing so since 1952. We are a not-for-profit, IRS 501(c) (7) organization, principally located at the Fort Wayne International Airport (KFWA). Learn more about us and feel free to get in touch as we would be happy to show you around.
Location
With aircraft at Fort Wayne International Airport (KFWA), Back 40 members enjoy instrument approaches, larger runways, and all the safety margins one can expect from larger airports. KFWA is also small enough to make interactions with local air traffic control an easy and friendly experience.
Facilities
The Piper Archer III and Cessna 172 are housed in Hanger 2040 at KFWA, near the Fort Wayne Aero Center, which is heated and has restrooms on-site. The Aero Center also provides us professional and courteous line services. Tasks such as fueling, towing and hangar movement activities are completed for you. Vehicle parking is available right at the hangar as well. With members getting their own plane and hanger keys, it’s simple to park, pre-flight, load up and fly.
Flight Instruction
Contact us to learn about how members are able to learn and become proficient in all aspects of flying by utilizing their own flight instructors. We are here to answer questions, provide contact information and help our members achieve their flying goals.
